An artist life: meet Aureliana Lixandru.

I get to know quite a number of talented artists through my blog. I believe artists, designers and others in creative professions have meaningful positions in society  as bearer of culture.

Meet Aureliana Lixandru. This is what she says about herself and her work.

“I was born in Ramnicu Valcea, Oltenia, but over 17 years old live in Tirgu Mures, Transylvania. By profession I am an engineer and I work as engineer at National Railway Company – CFR Marfa SA., Station Tirgu Mures Sud.
I live with my children, Bianca 18 years and Călin 14 years old. I love very much and they are my everything.

I always enjoyed working with my hands a lot and making different things, and I also tried many techniques: knitting, crochet, cross stitching, ribbon embroidery. But of all I feel drawn to quilling and cross stitch embroidery.

Lately I focused more on embroidery inspired by Romanian traditional designs, thus making medallions, rings, earrings, bracelets and even cufflinks for shirt.

I love my hobby lot. Every time I sit at the desk simply forget worries and I enjoy my little creations. The greatest satisfaction I have when receiving positive feedback from people who bought my little things.

Since last year, my hobby became a small business, which I can not live yet, but it completes my family income.

For now I do not have a store, or even online shop, but I dream that in the future I will have a small studio and a shop in my town, where people can come and see what I do. I would like to organize workshops with adults and children to be able to pass on this technique.”

  1. I am almost certain I met Aurelia in Sibiu (next to teh Podul Minciunilor) back in May, this year. I am wearing with pride the earrings and so is my Spanish friend to whom I also made a gift with earrings and necklace. They are all gorgeous. Congratulations and I hope to meet you again in the future.
